Movement is Medicine - Even in Small Doses
Many people think they need more exercise to feel better. Often, what the body really needs is simply more movement throughout the day.
As a chiropractor, I regularly see people who are active but still sore. They may walk, go to the gym, or play sport, yet spend long periods sitting or moving very little in between. The spine and joints don’t respond well to prolonged stillness, even if you exercise regularly.
Movement helps keep joints mobile, muscles balanced, and the nervous system responsive. When movement is limited, the body adapts by stiffening. That stiffness often shows up as aches, tightness, or reduced mobility.
You don’t need to overhaul your routine to make a difference. Standing up regularly, changing position, gentle stretching, or taking short walks can all help. Variety matters more than intensity.
Chiropractic care supports healthy movement by improving joint mobility and reducing unnecessary tension. Combined with simple daily movement habits, it can help the body cope better with everyday demands.
The goal isn’t to push harder. It’s to move smarter. Small, consistent changes can go a long way towards feeling more comfortable in daily life.
