Why stress can show up in your body
Most people think of stress as something mental, but it often shows up physically as well.
Tight shoulders, a stiff neck, headaches, or a feeling of tension through the back are all common signs. It’s not always from an injury or something you’ve done wrong. Often, it’s how the body responds to ongoing pressure.
The body is constantly adapting to what’s going on around you. When stress levels stay high, it can shift how you hold yourself, how you breathe, and how your muscles and joints move. Over time, this can lead to patterns of tension that don’t easily switch off.
As a chiropractor, I often see people who feel tight or restricted without a clear physical cause. Stress and daily demands can play a bigger role than people realise.
Simple things can help. Taking time to move, breathe deeply, and step away from constant demands gives the body a chance to reset. Even small changes can make a difference.
Chiropractic care works with the body to support better movement and reduce built-up tension. When the body is able to relax and move more freely, it often feels more balanced overall.
