Why one-sided habits can lead to aches and pains
Most of us have a “favourite side” without even realising it. Carrying a bag on the same shoulder, standing with weight on one leg, or always reaching to the same side can slowly shape how our body moves.
The body is always adapting. When we repeat the same patterns day after day, it begins to organise itself around those habits. Over time, this can show up as tension, imbalance, or discomfort, often on one side more than the other.
As a chiropractor, I often see people who haven’t had a clear injury but feel “off” or uneven. The body hasn’t broken down, it has simply adapted in a way that’s no longer serving them well.
Small changes can help restore balance. Switching sides, moving more freely, and bringing awareness to everyday habits can allow the body to reset and reorganise.
Chiropractic care works with the body to support better movement and coordination. When the body is moving well and adapting efficiently, it tends to feel more at ease.
Sometimes it’s not about doing more, but allowing the body to function the way it was designed to.
